TOSAIGA Exhibition returns this spring to To-ji Temple in Kyoto. Radiant colors of TOSAIGA works harmonize with the temple’s historic space. On this page, video highlights from last year’s exhibition accompany a curated selection of works centered on the theme “The Indwelling Sun.”

For its eighth edition, works completed last year are brought together at To-ji. The four new works — “Kon,” “Rainbow Tara,” “Amaterasu,” and “Taiyō no Ryū” — are united by the theme “The Indwelling Sun.” This theme symbolizes the source of life within each of us — a light of hope and creation. The message embodied in these works resonates with the esoteric Buddhist teachings preserved at To-ji, where profound spiritual traditions have endured for centuries. In this historic space — where countless prayers have echoed through time — you may find a quiet moment to reflect upon the light that resides within.
